• Breathing and swallowing: Unlike an arm, which you can keep completely still, the neck is always in motion. Every hiccup, every deeper breath, and every swallow moves the skin area. This requires absolute concentration from your tattoo artist and calm, controlled breathing from you.

1. Less is more: Too thick layers of cream can quickly lead to clogged pores here. A wafer-thin layer is completely sufficient.
2. Avoid friction: Shirt collars, turtlenecks, or thick scarves are absolute no-gos for the first two to three weeks. Friction can tear off the scab and pull ink from the tattoo.
3. Sleep like a mummy: For the first few nights, you should try to sleep as flat on your back as possible to avoid pressing the tattoo against the pillow or unnecessarily stretching the skin.
