For many people, a tattoo is more than just ink under the skin. It is a memory, a chapter of life, or a deep emotion captured for eternity. That makes it all the more important to find an artist who not only understands this vision but executes it with technical perfection. This is exactly where Mark Fekete comes in. The internationally awarded tattoo artist is an integral part of the Old Dragon Ink family in Dinkelsbühl. We take an exclusive look behind the scenes and show what makes Mark’s art so extraordinary.
From electrician to award-winning tattoo artist
The journey of Mark Fekete is the best proof that true passion finds its way. As recently as 2019, Mark was working full-time as an electrician. But his true calling was calling ever louder: on the weekends, he dedicated himself exclusively to his great love – tattooing. What began as an intense hobby quickly became an unstoppable career.
After running his own studio in Germany (Silk Needle Tattoo in Nördlingen), he returned to his Slovakian homeland, where he founded the Controlled Chaos Tattoo Studio in Komárno. In 2022, he finally made the decision to go all in. Since then, he has focused 100% on tattooing. His international presence allows him to constantly push new professional boundaries while being fully present for his children as a father.
More than just a guest spot: The connection to Old Dragon Ink
Although Mark’s home base is now in Slovakia, a large part of his heart beats in Dinkelsbühl, Bavaria. Since 2022, he has been a guest at Old Dragon Ink for an entire week every month. But anyone who knows Mark and the crew on Danziger Straße knows: this is long past being just a classic guest artist spot.
Over the past few years, a bond has formed so strong that the Old Dragon Ink team has become family to Mark. This deep trust, the creative exchange, and the familiar atmosphere in the studio are reflected directly in the works of art created here day after day. For Mark, the studio in Dinkelsbühl is a creative retreat where he can fully unfold.
Unique Versatility: Black & Grey, Fineline, and Chicano
Some tattoo artists limit themselves to a single niche – Mark, on the other hand, hates being pigeonholed. He feels at home in a wide variety of tattoo styles and seeks the perfect challenge in every motif. His portfolio at Old Dragon Ink reads like a best-of of modern tattoo art:
- Hyper-realistic Black & Grey Tattoos: Breathtaking contrasts and lifelike details that get under your skin.
- Fineline & Micro-Realism: Razor-thin, precise lines for delicate and elegant motifs.
- Chicano & Blackwork: Expressive shading and culturally deep-rooted designs.
- Magical & Fairytale Tattoos: Imaginative creations that tell a story of their own.
- Old School Basics: Traditional, timeless motifs with rich lines and strong contrasts.
Philosophy: Mindfulness and energy under the skin
Anyone who sits in Mark’s chair quickly realizes that this is an artist at work who embodies spirituality and mindfulness. “For me, a tattoo is not just a picture,” Mark explains. “It is a thought, a memory, and energy that we shape together.”
He firmly believes that the energy you invest in a project always comes back to you. You can feel this attitude during every session. Mark loves the exchange with his clients, but he respects it just as much if someone simply wants to switch off and relax while getting tattooed. While working, Mark often sinks into his own world – completely focused, calm, and extremely precise. There is no such thing as routine for him; every tattoo is true art.
Uncompromising quality: Premium setup for premium results
To deliver at the highest level, talent alone is not enough – you need the best tools. Mark continuously invests in his professional development and relies exclusively on high-end equipment for his daily work.
As an official member of the HANNA Tattoo Needles pro team, he works with Japanese precision, ensuring that even the smallest detail remains absolutely razor-sharp. In addition, he is sponsored by the Inksoul crew, who provide him with professional transfer paper and reliable stencil printers. With Mark, artisanal perfection meets uncompromising hygiene and material quality.
Awards & milestones: The confirmation of hard work
It is not just hundreds of happy clients who prove that Mark understands his craft, but also the international expert juries at renowned tattoo conventions. Hard work has nothing to do with luck – and Mark’s trophy cabinet speaks for itself.
His highlights from 2025:
- 10th Wassertrüdingen Tattoo Convention: An incredible triumphant run with 1st place wins in the categories Best of Show, Best of Sunday, Best of Black & Grey, and Best of Healed.
- Idar-Oberstein Tattoo Convention (among 180 tattoo artists): 1st place for Best of Show and Best of Black & Grey.
- Ansbach Tattoo Convention: 1st place for Best of Black & Grey.
Already in 2024, he drew attention to himself with strong 2nd place finishes in Worms and Mainz (each for Best of Black & Grey). These awards are proof of his constant development and hunger for perfection.
