What types of piercings are there? What do we pierce?

Jewelry, initial piercing, exclusively Titanium / PTFE

To meet our quality standards, we exclusively use sterile titanium (G23) and PTFE for initial piercings.
These materials are particularly well-tolerated, ideal for allergy sufferers, and cause significantly fewer to no reactions – unlike many other metal alloys.

For this reason, we deliberately avoid inexpensive initial piercings.

We take our time for subsequent jewelry: together, we select a suitable follow-up piece, tailored to your style and the respective body part. Our recommendations are based on experience, expertise, and customer feedback.

More than hygiene standards

We work exclusively with sterile disposable materials or professionally sterilized tools.

  • Nitrile disposable gloves – no latex, no rubber gloves

  • Each instrument is individually packaged and sealed after disinfection

  • For initial piercings, we use exclusively sterilized jewelry made of titanium (G23) or PTFE

  • Used cannulas, needle blades & co. are disposed of in approved medical waste containers

  • After each appointment, the entire workstation and all surfaces are thoroughly disinfected

Do you have questions? Here are the answers.

During an MRI, piercings and jewelry generally need to be removed, as the device operates with strong magnetic fields that can attract metal or impair image quality. While titanium piercings are often considered MRI-compatible, this should always be clarified with a doctor or radiologist beforehand. If a piercing cannot be removed – for example, with very fresh piercings – be sure to inform the MRI staff. In many cases, suitable solutions such as covers or protective measures are available. When in doubt: it’s better to remove a piercing before an MRI.

Piercings are occasionally associated with migraines, especially the so-called Daith piercing in the ear. Some people report a noticeable relief of their symptoms, but this effect has not yet been scientifically proven. Every body reacts differently, so a Daith piercing can help – but it doesn’t have to. For severe migraine problems, you should always consult a doctor or migraine specialist beforehand to discuss possible risks and sensible alternatives.

Some people report that getting a piercing during difficult phases of life gave them a sense of control or a positive boost. A personal symbol can also strengthen and support self-confidence. However, it is important to note: Piercings have no therapeutic effect on depression. Anyone suffering from depressive symptoms should always contact mental health professionals. Piercings can be part of personal expression – but they never replace professional help.

A piercing with a chain is an eye-catching trend where two or more piercings are connected by delicate chains. This creates elegant connections between different areas – for example, from a helix to a lobe piercing on the ear, or between nose and ear piercings. The chains are usually delicate, made of materials like silver or gold, and often adorned with small pendants or stones.

It can happen that a piercing becomes inflamed after a jewelry change – especially if the piercing has not yet fully healed or the new jewelry is not well tolerated. Here’s an overview of the most important causes, treatment steps, and prevention tips:

Possible causes of inflammation after jewelry change

  • Incompatible material: Jewelry made of nickel or inferior metals can trigger allergies or irritations. Titanium, PTFE, or real gold are better suited.

  • Improper change: If the jewelry is changed without clean hands or non-sterilly, bacteria can enter the piercing.

  • Wrong size or shape: Jewelry that is too tight, too heavy, or unsuitable can create pressure and friction, thereby promoting inflammation.

What to do in case of inflammation?

  • Gentle cleaning: Clean twice daily with an isotonic saline solution (0.9%) or use Octenisept for mucous membranes (water-based). Do not use aggressive or alcohol-containing agents.

  • Use suitable material: If the jewelry is the problem, switch to titanium or PTFE. If unsure, always ask the piercer.

  • Soothing care: Products with chamomile or sage can help – but use sparingly to avoid over-caring for the skin.

  • Professional help: If the inflammation does not improve or worsens after a few days, a piercer or doctor should examine it.

How can inflammation be avoided?

  • Only change jewelry when the piercing is fully healed.

  • Wash hands thoroughly and work as hygienically as possible.

  • Only use hypoallergenic materials.

  • Always seek advice from the piercer if unsure.

With a quick reaction and good hygiene, inflammation after a jewelry change can usually be managed well.

Yes, it’s possible. See opening hours and info.

After a fresh piercing, you should not swim for at least 4 to 8 weeks, as water in pools, lakes, or the sea contains bacteria that can quickly lead to infections. For certain areas – e.g., navel or cartilage piercings – healing can take significantly longer.

After these 4 to 8 weeks, it is advisable to have the healing status checked by the piercer before going back into the water. If you want to swim earlier, you can use waterproof plasters – but they only offer short-term protection and are not a reliable guarantee against infections.

After a fresh piercing, you should avoid exercise for at least 14 days to prevent friction, pressure, and sweat at the piercing site – otherwise, irritation or infection can quickly occur. For more intense sports or piercings in heavily used areas (e.g., navel), a longer break may be necessary.

When resuming sports, the piercing should be thoroughly cleaned beforehand and, if necessary, protected with a breathable plaster. It is best to consult the piercer on how long the break is advisable depending on the piercing site.

A piercing screwed on too tightly can be painful and irritate or even injure the surrounding tissue. The jewelry should always be tightened only enough to hold securely, but without exerting pressure. If a piercing that is too tight is difficult to loosen, it should be carefully loosened – always with clean hands or ideally sterile gloves. If it hurts or cannot be loosened at all, a piercer should definitely help. They can professionally open the jewelry and at the same time check if everything is correctly seated and no further problems have arisen.

A professional piercing is done with a specially designed needle. This technique is precise, hygienic, and minimally stresses the tissue – which usually results in faster and cleaner healing. A trained piercer can also individually assess which type of needle and jewelry is optimal for your skin and the respective body part.

Multishot or ear-piercing guns, as known from jewelry stores or drugstores, on the other hand, work with pressure: the jewelry is “shot” through the tissue. This can lead to tissue damage, longer healing times, and a higher risk of infection, as such guns often cannot be fully sterilized.

For any professional piercing – especially in cartilage or sensitive areas – the needle is therefore the significantly safer and gentler method.
