Some tattoos come from deep symbolism, others from a spontaneous whim – and then there are the stories written by life (or an apple crate). Today, I’m introducing a project that put a huge grin on my face: Mr. Schneckbert.
The Stowaway in the Apple Crate
The story behind this tattoo is as likable as they come: my client found a little snail as a stowaway in an apple crate. Instead of just leaving it outside to its fate, she decided on a rescue mission. Without further ado, the snail was allowed to spend the winter in a terrarium at her home.
But as it goes: a pet without a name is a no-go. So, he was spontaneously christened “Schneckbert.”
From the Crate to the Skin
The rescue mission turned into a friendship, and Schneckbert earned his place in her life so much that he’s now been given a place of honor on her skin. But not just any old way, of course! If you’re going to do a snail, do it with class.
The Design in Detail:
- The Look: To emphasize Schneckbert’s personality, we gave him a proper upgrade: a top hat, a monocle, and a distinguished mustache. A true gentleman.
- Style: Finest black-and-grey work. Check out the texture of the shell and the “slimy” ground – details that make Schneckbert look alive.
- Character: This tattoo is the perfect example of how to turn a funny anecdote into a high-quality, artistic design.
Why I Love Projects Like This
It doesn’t always have to be the classic lion or a clock. It’s often exactly these “niche motifs” with a real, personal story behind them that are the most fun. Schneckbert is now officially the most stylish resident of her forearm.
