An intimate piercing requires special care – not because it’s “dirtier,” but because the area is sensitive, soft, and often warm and moist due to clothing. Here you’ll learn how to care for your intimate piercing optimally and avoid infections.
✅ The Golden Care Rules:
- Always wash your hands before cleaning
- Rinse 2x daily with sterile saline solution (5ml-10ml small ampoules) or Octenisept
- Don’t rub or scrub – only gently pat dry or let it run over
- Wear breathable underwear (e.g., cotton)
- No sexual intercourse during healing (approximately 4–8 weeks depending on the piercing and your own wound healing)
⚠️ Mistakes You Should Avoid:
- Perfumed intimate care products
- Avoid sauna, chlorinated water, salt water, tanning beds, or bathtubs during the first few weeks
- Tight pants, synthetic underwear
- “Quick checks” with unwashed fingers
